Meeting – December 2018
November 7th, 2018Our next meeting at St Saviour’s Church Hall is on Tuesday 4th December at 8.00pm when we will have a presentation by Mary Bodfish entitled “From Christmas Past to Christmas Present”.
Behind all the elements of the great Christmas festival of family, feasting and fun as we celebrate it today, is a history that stretches back through the Victorians, the Tudors and the Romans all the way to our most remote pagan ancestors.
Mary Bodfish makes a welcome return to our society. The world of the past has always fascinated her and she has been able to share her love of local history as a founder member of the Smethwick Local History Society. In keeping with her theme we will be maintaining another tradition of serving Christmas cake with our refreshments.
