The Society\u2019s last meeting of 2008 was its December Christmas Social.\u00a0 Members and their guests arrived to a sherry reception, which was followed by an excellent hot buffet. \u00a0Back by popular demand, Ken Price had provided a seasonal \u2018warm up\u2019 quiz at the beginning of the evening but the best was yet to come!\u00a0 Once the meal was over, quizmaster Ken moved to the real business: four rounds of the most taxing questions to be answered in teams. This plethora of puzzlement did not defeat such knowledgeable participants and the eventual winners were Ximenes (with a name like that it was a shame Ken hadn\u2019t included a crossword!).\u00a0 Chairman Ray Porter and Secretary Alan Atkinson were kept busy scoring and keeping totals.<\/p>\n
At the end of a most enjoyable evening, Ray wished everyone a happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year and thanks were extended to all who had made the evening such a success, particularly the caterers, Margaret Rorison for overall organisation, Joan Barwick for the raffle and Ken Price for his entertaining \u2018brain-teasers\u2019.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
