Kate last spoke to us in 2017 about \u2018Stourbridge Glassmakers &#8211;\non the Move\u2019. She is an excellent speaker and is extremely knowledgeable about\nthe glass industry. <em>She has always lived in the Black Country and has a\nstrong industrial family heritage. <\/em>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp; Cameo Glass. What is it?&nbsp; How is it\nmade?&nbsp; And how did cameo glass bring fame and fortune to the streets of\nThe Crystal Mile?&nbsp; This talk will take you to the Cameo gallery in the\n(now closed) Broadfield House Glass Museum and, starting with the 17th century\nrediscovery of a lost Roman art form, will show you the challenges faced and\nthe rivalry engendered by the glass dynasties of Stourbridge in their attempts\nto reproduce Cameo glass.&nbsp; Through the lives of our local glass makers and\ntheir superb artistic talents, for which Stourbridge glass is world renowned,\nwe will follow the story of Stourbridge Cameo from the 1876 reproduction of the\nPortland Vase, to the present day studio artists continuing development of the\ncraft.\n\n&nbsp; Visitors\nare most welcome at all our events.
