{"id":1276,"date":"2012-07-03T09:25:05","date_gmt":"2012-07-03T08:25:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hhfs.org.uk\/hhfs\/?p=1276"},"modified":"2013-05-16T21:29:31","modified_gmt":"2013-05-16T20:29:31","slug":"news-letter-3rd-july-2012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hhfs.org.uk\/hhfs\/?p=1276","title":{"rendered":"Newsletter &#8211; June 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Members and friends of the Society have had another busy month, with a meeting, walk and two visits.\u00a0 The June meeting saw the welcome return of Mike Miles with a presentation on \u201cThe Canalboat Women\u201d.\u00a0 Using archive photographs, Mike started with a history of the narrow boat operations on the canals between Birmingham and London, explaining how the coming of the railways led to wages being cut and causing the men to take their wives and families on the boats.
