Newsletter – December 2008

December 15th, 2008 by JCope

The Society’s last meeting of 2008 was its December Christmas Social.  Members and their guests arrived to a sherry reception, which was followed by an excellent hot buffet.  Back by popular demand, Ken Price had provided a seasonal ‘warm up’ quiz at the beginning of the evening but the best was yet to come!  Once the meal was over, quizmaster Ken moved to the real business: four rounds of the most taxing questions to be answered in teams. This plethora of puzzlement did not defeat such knowledgeable participants and the eventual winners were Ximenes (with a name like that it was a shame Ken hadn’t included a crossword!).  Chairman Ray Porter and Secretary Alan Atkinson were kept busy scoring and keeping totals.

At the end of a most enjoyable evening, Ray wished everyone a happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year and thanks were extended to all who had made the evening such a success, particularly the caterers, Margaret Rorison for overall organisation, Joan Barwick for the raffle and Ken Price for his entertaining ‘brain-teasers’.
