Newsletter – August 2013

August 3rd, 2013 by JCope

There was no meeting in August but, early in the month, we had a most enjoyable visit to Harvington Hall.  One of our guides was Sylvia Beardshaw, a familiar face to members, and the other was a former colleague who appeared in a splendid period costume.  Afterwards everyone enjoyed tea and cake in the tea room.

A few days later we had a very interesting guided walk around the site of bell pits, a primitive method of mining, in the Pound Green area of Bewdley.  Lunch followed at the Button Oak Inn.

The Society was founded 50 years ago and the first event held was a coach trip to Buildwas Abbey on 28th September 1963.  On the exact anniversary we revisit the Abbey together with Wenlock Priory.  A buffet lunch will be provided at the Gaskell Arms, Much Wenlock.
