Coach Trip to The Hive and Elgar Birthplace Museum – Wednesday 19th June 2013

May 22nd, 2013 by JAtkinson

This outing follows on from our May 2013 meeting ‘The Work of the Worcestershire Archive & Archaeology Service’ by Paul Hudson.

Our coach leaves Webbs Garden Centre at 10am and picks up at the village car park at 10.05am.

The Hive houses the new County Archive and Archaeology Service.  Our 90 minute tour includes the ‘Explore the Past’ floor with the original document and self-service areas and the Historic Environment Record plus a ‘behind the scenes’ tour of the strongrooms, conservation room, archaeological finds and the work of the specialist archaeology staff.  This is followed by a lunch of sandwiches, crisps, cakes, tea and coffee at the Elgar Birthplace Museum.  A 20 minute video will be followed by free time to explore the Museum.  We return to Hagley for about 4pm.

The cost of the trip is £23.50 which includes coach fare, tour, entrance to the Elgar Museum, lunch and tips.  Car parking has been arranged at Webbs Garden Centre at a cost of £1 per car, to be collected on the day.  Limited to 40 participants.  Please contact us if you want to join the visit.
